Safeguarding
Every child who walks into a Configur Academy session is our responsibility, and we treat that as the most important sentence on this website.
Who is responsible. Orgesa Meli is the designated safeguarding lead, holds an enhanced DBS check with children's barred list check, registered on the DBS update service, and every adult who delivers our sessions is DBS checked to the same standard. Safeguarding training is kept up to date.
How we run. Our practice follows the Department for Education's guidance for out-of-school settings, Keeping Children Safe in Out-of-School Settings, and our full written safeguarding policy is available to any parent or school on request. Children are signed in and out at every session and released only to the adults named on their consent form. We hold 2 emergency contacts for every child, and any medical or dietary needs you share with us travel with the register to every session. A first aid kit is present at every session and market.
Photographs. Only ever taken and used according to each family's written consent, and children are never named publicly.
At the market. A parent or carer stays with their child throughout, without exception, and all money handling by children happens with an adult present.
Raising a concern. If you are ever concerned about a child's welfare in connection with our clubs, or about the conduct of any adult involved with them, contact Orgesa Meli directly on 07414 962803 or configuracademy@gmail.com, and your concern will be taken seriously and acted on. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also contact the NSPCC helpline on 0808 800 5000 at any time.
