Teach a Configur Academy club in your school or your part of London

Hello, and thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

My name is Orgesa and I run Configur Academy, which is a group of after-school clubs for children aged 8 to 12 in Twickenham. I would now love to bring our clubs to new schools and new areas across London, and I am looking for people who are as passionate as I am about teaching children, which is where I am hoping you might come in.

There are 3 clubs that I would like to take to new places. Rise to Lead is our public speaking, confidence and leadership club, Young Founders House is our money and business club, and The Detective Club is all about reasoning and problem solving. In all 3 of them the children work in small teams and are up on their feet for a good deal of the hour, and there is a new challenge waiting for them every week.

I am looking for a small number of people to teach one of these clubs in a school they know well, or in their own part of London. Each session is an hour straight after school in term time. I write every session myself, and I will train you before you lead a class of your own.

What matters most to me is that you love teaching children as much as I do, and how you are with them. You might be a teacher or a teaching assistant, you might run a drama group or coach a sport, or you might be a parent who has run groups of children and found you were rather good at it.

You would be paid for every session you lead, with more on top as the club fills up and as the children come back term after term, and I would be very happy to go through all of it properly with everyone I invite to meet.

The form below should take you about 15 minutes. I read every application myself, and I will come back to you within a week of your application, either to arrange the next stage or with a reply.

Thank you again for reading this far, and I do hope to hear from you.

Which schools do you have a connection with, and which parts of London could you get to for an after-school club? You might work at a school or live close by, for example.

If a club started at a school you know, how could you help let the parents there know about it? A few lines is plenty.

Could you tell me about one child you have worked with who was hard to reach at first? I would love to know what you noticed about them and what you did, and 4 or 5 lines is plenty. Please do change the child's name.

Imagine that halfway through a team game a 9-year-old on the losing team bursts into tears and says the game is stupid, and 2 of the other children start laughing. What would you do in the next minute or so?

Now imagine you have 12 children in the room. Megan has not said a word all session, Leo answers every question before anybody else has a chance, Martha has asked to go to the toilet 3 times, and Callum finished early and is winding up the children sitting next to him. Which child would you go to first, and what do you think might be going on for them?

How did you come to hear about this?

I confirm that what I have written here is true. I understand that any offer depends on 2 references, proof of my identity and of my right to work in the UK, and an enhanced DBS check with a children's barred list check. I understand that it is an offence to apply for this role if I am barred from working with children.
